My Journey

My exploration into the mind-body connection began in high school when I discovered the transformative power of meditation. From that moment, I was captivated by the profound bliss that meditation brought to my mind, body, and spirit. This journey led me to delve deeply into understanding how our minds work. The powerful connection between mind and body, and how we can transform our lives—especially those suffering from poor mental health.

Understanding Mental Health

I know first hand the challenges of living with anger, anxiety and depression. In my 20s, I first experienced anxious symptoms of gut pain, nausea, confusion, headaches, doubt, over thinking and lack of confidence. I learnt to overcome my anxiety with a balanced lifestyle and aligning with my goals and values.

Then I lost two close friends—one to suicide and one to a childhood illness. Which plunged me into a deep depression. Understanding what it’s like to feel numb, to struggle to see the light in each day.

I’ve also witnessed loved ones turn to alcohol, drugs and other addictions as they tried to cope with pain through survival mode.

I’ve learnt a lot in my time about mental health and over the last 10 years have worked with 1000’s of people to transform emotional overwhelm, stress, anxiety and depression.

Anxiety is the Fear Response

The fear response is the body’s natural reaction to perceived danger.

Designed to protect us from threats. It activates the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses. Fight prepares us to confront the threat, triggering aggression or defensiveness. Flight urges us to escape or avoid the danger, increasing adrenaline and alertness. Freeze causes temporary paralysis or feeling stuck, as the body prepares to minimize harm by staying still. Fawn involves people-pleasing or appeasing the threat to avoid conflict or danger. These instinctive reactions are survival mechanisms rooted in our nervous system.

When you understand your body and mind, you will start to recognise your triggers. You can then practice responding rather than reacting to situations that feel threatening. I challenge you to eduacate yourself and start to regulate your nervous system so you feel safe and secure in yourself.
