Rush, rushed, rushing….
In this modern age, we often feel rushed, and we rush around, but why do we?
When we feel rushed, there is stress, cortisol and adrenalin coursing through our body, giving us a rush of energy. We can sometimes feel this as fear and anxiety and a constant need to be busy. When I find myself rushing, most often when i’m running late and driving in the car, I simply breathe.
I breathe in life force energy, and breathe out stress, and the rush of hormones.. This helps reset my nervous system, to remind my mind and body that I am ok, I am safe, and it’s not the end of the world if I am late.
If you are driven to constantly be doing something, and feel irritated or anxious trying to relax, it is a good sign your nervous system is stressed. And if you are absolutely exhausted at the end of the day, another good sign your nervous system needs a reset, because you are using up to much of your energy during the day.
Stress can lead to anxiety, and it can get stuck in our bodies as chronic illness. We need to release the energy and stress from our body, so we can relax properly in rest and digest mode. This is where our brain and bodies function properly and efficiently.
There are two key things we address to help reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety.
The body
Become aware of your anxious feelings and sensations
Learn to relax and calm your nervous system
Release the energetic charge of emotion
Remember to breathe
The brain
Listen to your language, internal (thinking) and external (speaking)
Know your triggers, situations, people, sounds, smells, etc.
Your mind is always trying to keep you safe
Negative thoughts stem from unresolved emotion
Imagination creates powerful feelings
Reset your rushed nervous system
Remember your most relaxing moment, when you felt most free. Feel it.
Tell yourself what you need to hear to feel safe, to feel better.
You’ve got this. It’s ok to be yourself. You can be soft and sensuous and you can be crazy and courageous. You are not one identity, (good girl, sweet sam, rude ronny, funny fred, wild winona) you are 10,000 different identities all in one vessel.
